Creating a CPVExtract Task

A CPVExtract Task is defined as an independent Extract process on one or more user selected boundaries. There will usually be multiple taskfiles created for a single project. Each extraction must have a unique task name, and every task will be processed using the boundary type, boundary name, and pre-defined feature list that is associated with that task.

  1. Double click the CPV Extract icon found on the desktop:

  2. At the Login screen, fill in the User Name and password of the Project configured above. Use the dropdown arrow for Project (if necessary) to select the correct Project name:

  3. Click Login to open the Edit Tasks dialog:

  4. Clicking Add in this dialog will display the Define Task dialog, which is used to define the boundaries and/or filenames processed by the task:

Note: ‘Coax Nodes’ boundaries are those boundaries in the database that have been placed with the NodeBoundary command in the Coax module of OpenComms Designer. These boundaries will ALWAYS use the NodeBoundary Feature List.

‘Fiber Hubs’ boundaries are those boundaries that have been placed with the OpenComms Mapping Place Boundary command. After placing the boundary in OpenComms Designer, the OSS HUB BOUNDARY type must be selected from the dropdown:

These boundaries will ALWAYS use the HubBoundary Feature List.

  5. Select the Boundary type from the Boundaries dropdown:

  6. Highlight a Boundary Name and move it to the Selected Boundaries window:

  7. Click the Save button to create a *.tsk file in the …\OpencommsDesigner\AppConfig\CPVExtract\Tasks folder with the name of the selected boundary.
